Celebrate America is a patriotic, family-oriented event produced by Destiny Community Center in Rocklin, CA. Traditionally the weekend before Independence Day, this festival-style production is open to the entire community and treats thousands of attendees to games, activities, patriotic performances and an amazing fireworks display. Illuminate has been involved with this production for years. IPS provides all audio, video, lighting, and power for this event.
IPS’ President, Rick Franke, and VP of Design, Caleb Franke are personally involved with this production. For the most recent production, Caleb redesigned the set using IPS’ tour-rated LED video displays as scenic video backdrops. The main backdrop was a fragmented video wall split by vertical columns of lighting fixtures. The stage requires a choral riser and this area was masked also by LED video. Full concert lighting audio are key elements required for this show and Illuminate’s inventory is perfectly matched to serve those needs.
Some of IPS inventory used on this show include:
- Full concert Line array P.A. system by Adamson System Engineering, monitor wedges by Adamson, wireless in-ear monitors by Sennheiser, wireless mics by Shure, and audio console by Allen & Heath.
- IPS’ tour grade outdoor rated LED video, cameras by Panasonic and Blackmagic Design, switch and record by Blackmagic Design, and live streaming by Teradek.
- Full concert lighting with nearly 100% Elation Professional fixtures including: Paladin, FLX, Proteus Hybrid, Davinci Artiste, Platinum Seven Wash, Fuze Wash Z350, Design LED Strip RGBAW, Design Wash LED Zoom, Rayzor 360Z, Platinum Beam Extreme, LED Pop Strobes, and Cuepix panels.
- Staging support for FOH mix and stage ramps by Steeldeck.
This show installs over multiple days with several days of tech and dress rehearsals. The load in is typically near the time of the Summer Solstice which often means extreme heat. Because the event takes place on turf at a public park, there are also concerns with soft ground and weight distribution for heavy vehicles and ground rigging structures. Strategic planning is key for Illuminate to make sure our team and gear is safe and that we are creating the best environment for all the attendees.
The capacity crowds, full parking lots, and long lines of vehicles parking on nearby streets are just some of the key performance indicators of this event’s success. The thunderous cheers of the crowd and rave reviews of the event by attendees truly reveal that Celebrate America is always a big hit. Of course, the work we do at Illuminate is in service of the show’s headliner, the fireworks display by our friends at Pyro Spectaculars. The IPS team will be so excited to do this event again when it returns.
